Research Your Family Health History for Diabetes
For this assignment, you will need to interview (orally-not
through e-mail) at least three family members (can be parents,
grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, and uncles) to see if
diabetes is present in your family health history. When
interviewing the family members, be sure to ask the following
questions:
1. Have you ever been tested for diabetes?
2. Have you ever been diagnosed with diabetes? If
so, what type of diabetes?
3. If they have been diagnosed with diabetes, what were
the symptoms they experienced? How are they treated?
What lifestyle changes have they made?
4. If they have not been diagnosed with diabetes, do
they know what the symptoms of diabetes are? If they don’t
know, be sure to share with them what you learned from in pp.
395-406. Do they know how they can reduce their risk for
diabetes? If not, be sure to share the information from pp.
402-403 in your text book.
This assignment is intended for your to learn from your
family members, or for them to learn from you. When you have
completed the interviews, write up (in complete sentences) your
results from each of the three interviews and your reaction to
the experience. Be sure to include the first name and ages of
the individuals you interviewed. Use 12 point font, 1 inch
margins and double space your 1 page paper.
