FIRST SEMESTER STUDENTS:
The purpose of the Organizational Analysis Presentationassignment is to thoroughly examine your internship organization, the duties you are performing and describe how such duties and responsibilities relate to the overall mission of the organization. That is, how does the work you are doing enhance the organization? As each internship experience is different, some of the items listed may not be as relevant to your internship. For those interning with a large organization, first give an overview of the organization then explain the function of your particular department.
This presentation should be 10 – 12 slides and organized according to guidelines below ( clearly label each slide):
Introduction (Slide 1)
Introduce yourself (name, major, year, internship title and
start date) and your internship site
Background (Slides 2 & 3, ≤ 100 words)
Provide a basic description of the organization. Consider
information regarding the history, why/motivation to be founded,
the kind of or populations served and what type of services are
provided.
Mission Statement (Slides 4 & 5, ≤ 150 words)
Is there a particular mission statement? If not, why? If so,
what is it, what are the goals? How are these goals communicated to
the public? How do the organization’s mission and specific goals
influence your performance, work or service in this site? Are they
consistent with your personal values and beliefs, or are they
different?
Table of Organization (Slides 6 & 7, ≤ 200 words;
if needed, use additional slide)
Providean organizational chart (e.g. informal hand drawn
sketch or an official image).
Explainthe reporting structure within the organization.
Demonstrate where you fit into the organizational chart.
Description of Position (Slides 8 & 9, ≤ 300 words;
if needed, use additional slide)
List your duties and describe the tasks/projects you are
assigned. How are these related to the organization’s overall
mission and goals? How are these related to your personal growth
and professional aspirations?
